Since Capri had a strep-like infection during her actual birthday, we celebrated it a week late. ( Oddly enough, she woke up that night with another raging fever. The next day we discovered she had croup... So, sorry to everyone we could've, and probably infected.)
My sweet friend Debbie made cupcakes for the occasion:
My Sweet little girl and I:
And of course Camri had to get in on the action:
Capri looked at us like we were all crazy when we were singing to her, but I think she enjoyed it. For the record, Camri was very proud to help her blow out her candle. She is such a sweet, helpful big sister:
It only took Capri a few seconds to eat all of her cupcake. Seriously, she inhaled the thing:
Followed by another cupcake...
This was the funniest face! She had a great time at her party, don't let this picture fool ya. :)
After she finished off her first cupcake, she kept looking around like she was wondering where it went.
Ya, these videos suck, but I promised my mom I would try to get some of it on video for her. Sorry, Ma. I tried.

Visits From Papa and Grandma Carolyn
We were lucky enough to have back to back visits from Papa Steve and Grandma Carolyn this past month. Both visits were surprises for Camri, who couldn't have been more surprised and happy! Papa got in late one night, so Camri woke up to him being there. She was shocked! Then, when we went to drop off Papa, we went to the airport to get Grandma Carolyn. I took her into the airport with me and led her to the bottom of the escalator that Grandma was coming down. She was (momentarily) speechless! Despite the girls getting super sick, we had a lot of fun shopping, and eating treats. Both were such fun surprises! Thank you guys for coming out to see the girls, they love you both so much!
Capri LOVED her Papa! I was surprised she wasn't afraid of him at all, since she seems to be a bit shy of most men.
And of course, Camri is Papa's girl. Here they were eating their favorite cookies:
The weather was nice, so most days we played outside:
Capri is always concerned about her oral health, as you can see.
Camri has some serious bubble blowing skills:
And with Grandma Carolyn... We did pretty much the same things. :)
Grandma Carolyn discovered Capri's love of backpacks. Seriously, the girl loves having a back pack on. I think it makes her think she's a "Big Girl", like Camri, who also loves wearing her backpack.
And a couple misc. pictures from the visit:
Grandma took us out to dinner to celebrate Capri's birthday:

Capri is One!
It seems like just yesterday I was bringing home our sweet little Capriel, and today she is already a year old. She has added so much to our family, and brought us all so much joy. She is a best friend to Camri, and a wonderful playmate. She looks just like her Daddy, and is truly the apple of Steve's eye. What she has done for me as her mother is beyond words. She has taught me so much. She has made us laugh, both with her and at her. Every day I get to wake up to this sweet face I feel blessed and grateful that she is all mine.
Here she is before she was born. I love technology! And we loved the 3 and 4 D ultrasounds we got of her:
Here are the pictures of us at the hospital just after her birth:
Here are a couple of her Newborn pictures:
Here are a couple from her first month of life. I love this picture of her with Mama. I'm not sure why, I just do. She was always such a darling baby.
And here she is at about 2 months old:
And at 3 months old:
And 4 months old:
Here is our little girl learning to sit on her own, around 5 months old.
We waited until she was almost six months to start her on rice cereal, and boy, did she love it! This girl has always loved her food!
Our Chubby ladybug on Halloween
Grandma Carolyn came to visit us in November when Capri was about 6 months:
Our little turkey at Thanksgiving. I love this picture of her!
We took the girls to Disneyworld in December for Christmas, and got to Florida just in time for record low temperatures. It was freezing the entire time we were there, but Capri was a happy little camper. She even started crawling while we were on vacation! She was about 7 months in this picture.
Capri with "Rosetta". We got to see all the fairies while in Disney World but Capri liked this gal the best.
Capri's first Christmas was spent: Eating wrapping paper, playing with wrapping paper, and tearing and distributing wrapping paper-everywhere.
Cap wasn't a big fan of Santa this year... Poor old guy. He didn't stand a chance...
Christmas morning with her presents:
Our big girl at about 8 months:
Capri's first "stolen" sandwich. Camri didn't eat it, so Capri did. She loves her food! Maybe thats why I have sooo many pictures of her eating...
Capri at about 9 months:
On vacation in OBX for Spring break:
This girl looks just like her Daddy! She is about 10 months here:
With Grammy Sonja and Papa Gary when they came to visit in April. Capri was about 11 months:
Spaghetti has been a big time favorite food of Capri's. What a mess, though! We usually strip her naked to eat it. She also loves to put her left foot on the table while she eats. It's hilarious!
We've had a lot of fun lately playing outside at the park, and with our neighbors little car. Capri at almost 12 months!:
And Easter pictures, of course:
Our Capri has always been such a sweet, happy girl. She got her first teeth at 3 months (and now she has 12!), crawled at 7 months and started walking at 10 1/2 months. She has always kept us on our toes!
Our nicknames for her are "Caprese", "Cappi", and most often (and we'll need to stop this before she gets much older) "Buddha". She loves to play with Camri's toys and loves music. She will dance to almost anything.
She is not a big talker, but she does say: Mama, Dada, No, Hi, Buh- Bye, and Uh- Oh. She has a contagious laugh. I still don't know what color her eyes will be. I think maybe brown, but some days they still look green and grey to me. We can't wait to see how much she'll grow and change in the next year! We're so thankful for her sweet spirit in our lives.
Happy Birthday Sweet Capri!
